Project Description
In this project, Clark County will be working take its farmland
preservation program to a new level in the next two years by adding a strong
economic component to make farming more profitable, building extra public
support for local farming, and institutionalizing farmland preservation and
practices conducive to agricultural business development within county
government. There are currently 10,000 acres of protected farmland within
the county, making Clark County one of the leading counties in Ohio for farmland
preservation. The director of the Clark County Planning Commission, Shane
Farnsworth, with the assistance of Tecumseh Land Trust, will be working closely
with CFFPI on three main project areas. These three areas include:
● Project Area
1: Add value to local farm production
● Project Area
2: Develop additional funding options for farmland preservation within the
county
● Project Area
3: Disperse knowledge from the project to other Ohio communities through a
series of educational workshops
